New Years Eve Survival Guide

Take a deep breath in. Can’t you just smell the anticipation in the air? We are less than 24 hours from brining in the new year! Except this time, we’re celebrating the start of a new decade…we’re back to the roaring 20s baby! You may have concrete plans for tonight that you’ve been looking forward to for weeks. But if you’re one to live on the edge, you may still be planning out your night. Either way, New Years Eve is a big night wrapped up in a lot of hype. With so many moving parts and mixed emotions, how does one transition from one year to the next as seamlessly as possible? Well just take a quick glance at our NYE Survival Guide!

1. Go in with low expectations
Look, we’re not trying to be pessimistic here, but this is an important tip to cover right off the bat. NYE is one of those holidays that is hyped up to the point of disaster. If you want to be around people, it will most likely be in an overly crowded environment. People will be highly intoxicated. Drinks will be spilled. Suppressed emotions may come out. Stay in a positive state of mind, but know that the entire night could very well end up being a shit show. Alright, now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, let’s proceed.

 2. Include ample buffer time for travel
If you plan to bounce between a few different locations throughout the night, be sure to add a generous time cushion to account for how packed public transportation will be. The same applies even if you’re going to rely on good old Uber or Lyft! It’ll take extra-long to get from point A to point B and the last thing you want is to be on the subway or in the back of an Uber pool when the clock hits 12!

 3. Stick a Tile on it
NYE has an uncanny ability to surprise even the most responsible of us, including those who are normally super diligent about not losing things,. So if you’re bringing anything of value out with you, stick a Tile on it or take some other necessary precautions. No one wants to spend the first day of the new decade tracking down a lost phone!

4. Don’t think it’s lame to be lowkey

Staying in tonight? Catching some z’s long before midnight? Good for you! Don’t let FOMO and other millennial acronyms ruin your night. Just because you have a calm start to the year doesn’t mean you're destined for 365 days of boredom and drabness. If this is your night to stay in and treat yourself, own it!

5. But if you’re going for it, be sure to dress the part
We’re not encouraging you to stress about this outfit – it should be whatever you feel is fun and comfortable – but it’s also your chance to be a little extra. Our Belted Shirt Dress is one of our suggestions, but of course, it’s up to you to decide the appropriate level of sparkle to incorporate. Our Cutout Dress is also a surefire win!

You’re all set to have an amazing night! Have fun, stay safe, and HAPPY NEW YEAR! Cheers to 2020! 🍾🥳
